Albert Roberts 64, of Haskell, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, in an Abilene Hospital after a battle with cancer of the bile duct.

Albert was born to G. W. and Doris Marie (Banks) Roberts in Haskell Co., TX. He married Neta Bridges in 1962 in Safford, AZ.

He worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years, in Haskell and in Woodson, where he retired after 13 years as Postmaster of Woodson, TX in January 2006. In early years he worked for Haskell Butane, then owned Roberts Fina and later farmed and raised cattle while working for Nine Point Grain. Albert was an avid golfer and only played one time after he got sick. He was a former member of the Haskell Jaycees where he served as treasurer. Albert was a longtime member of East Side Baptist Church and worked with the finances for many years.

He is survived by, his Mother, Doris Marie Roberts of Haskell.
One daughter, Tonya Roberts Wennberg and husband Ron of Alma, AR.
Two sons, Lee Roberts of Colorado City, TX.
Chad Roberts and wife, Vickie of Runaway Bay, TX.
Former wife and friend Neta Roberts of Wichita Falls, TX.

Seven grandchildren: Dustin Hughes and wife, Amanda of Alma AR, Kasha and Karomy Hughes of Alma, AR; Charles Roberts of Clyde, TX, and Bryson, Logan, and Kylee Roberts of Runaway Bay, TX.

Sister, Doris Jean McMeans and husband, Max of Haskell; one sister-in-law Barbara Roberts also of Haskell and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his father G. W. Roberts in 1987, his brother Bobby Roberts on 4/21/2006 (just a few weeks prior) and six-year old sister, Alta Mae Roberts in 1949 (from a traffic accident).

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2006 at East Side Baptist Church in Haskell with Reverend Danny Manross and childhood friend Reverend Jimmy Griffith officiating.

Pallbearers were nephews, Rick Phemister, Randy Phemister, Jimmy Roberts, and cousins Jackie Daniels, Mike Voyles, and James King.

Honorary Pallbearers: Brother-in-law Frankie Bridges, Uncle & friend Jerry Spinks, and life-long friend Gaston Tidrow.
