Mrs. Jessie Barnhill
Mrs. Jessie Sarah (Lyles) Barnhill, 74, a longtime resident of the Ottawa area, died yesterday in Anderson County Hospital in Garnett.
She was born April 11, 1885, near Douglas, and was reared in Miami County. She was married in 1904 to Fred C. Barnhill of Paola, who died 22 yrs. ago.
She moved to Franklin Co., in 1920 and lived on a farm north-west of Ottawa. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. H.H. Day, Garnett; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at McVey Dengel Mortuary. Rev. P.L. Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Paola Cemetery.

Jessie Sarah Lyles was married 1904 to Frederick Chase Barnhill. At that time, she had lovely auburn hair. She lived many years in Franklin Co., KS NW of Ottawa.
Jessie loved flowers, birds, and children. She collected sea shells and National Geographic magazines. She was often barefoot. Jessie said it saved wearing out her shoes.
