Ralph D. "Red" Ball 81, of Rushville died APR 20, 2004 at his residence.

Born APR 12, 1923 in Franklin County, IN he was the son of Delbert V. & Mary Glisson Ball. He was married to Mary Lee Durbin OCT 4, 1947 and she survives. He was a 1941 graduate of Rushville High and entered the US Navy. He served as a signalman 2nd class during WWII.

He retired after 30 years as manager of Rodefeld s Co. Inc. in Rushville & Connersville. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was Past Exaulted Ruler of the Elks Lodge 1307. He was a former member of the Kiwanis & Rotary Clubs.

Survivors besides his wife include three sons James (wife JoAnn) Ball of Phoenix, AZ, Richard (wife Barbara) Ball of Loveland, OH & Don Ball of Rushville; two daughters Betty Jo (Mrs. Bob) Hansen of Peru, IL & Mary Alice (Mrs. Darryl) Berry of Cincinnati, OH; two brothers Delbert R. Ball Jr. of CA & Lowell "Jack" Ball of Lake Santee, IN; three sisters Judy (Mrs. Lynn) Hill of Anderson, IN, Ellen (Mrs. Charles) Rogers of Rushville & Linda Alford of Shelbyville, IN; eight grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Ball.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am APR 24th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Rushville. Friends may call from 3 to 8pm APR 23, 2004 at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary School Foundation, 818 S. Airport Rd. Rushville, IN 46173.

I went to school with Mary Alice and remember Ralph when I worked for Paul Rees at Rees' Standard/Amaco and going to Rodefield's for parts.
