Mary Lee Ball Age 87, of Rushville, passed away December 30, 2011, in Rushville.
She was born August 1, 1924 in Celina, OH, the daughter of the late H. Leo and Mary Cain Durbin. She married Ralph D. Ball October 4, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2004. She graduated from Rushville High in 1942, attended St. Mary College in South Bend, IN and graduated from Indiana University in 1946.
She was a teacher for 38 years and owned and operated Ball Nursery School. In addition she worked at the Durbin Hotel and Rushville Public Library. She was active in Girl Scouts for many years and was awarded the Rushville High School Distinguished Service Award. Memberships include Tri Kappa, Delta Delta Delta, KOMENTRI, Rush County Players, Rush County Historical Society, St. Mary Sodality and St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville.
Survivors Include three sons: James D. (Jo Ann Dyer) Ball of Phoenix, AZ; Richard L. (Barbara Hollett) Ball of Loveland, OH; and Donald L. Ball of Morristown; two daughters: Betty Jo (Robert M.) Hansen of Peru, IL; and Mary Alice (Darryl) Berry of Trenton, OH; four brothers: James E. (Jean) Durbin of Vero Beach, FL; G. David (Jo Ellen) Durbin of Indianapolis; Robert C. (Ruth) Durbin of Indianapolis; and John D. (Marlene) Durbin of Bellevue, WA; one sister: Ruth Lynne (R. Brian) Walsh of Oconomowoc, WI; eight grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Donald L. Durbin and sister-in-law Lois Durbin.
A Mass of Remembrance will be held 10AM Friday, January 6th at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Jeremy Gries officiating. Burial will follow at Rushville's Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 5th from 5 to 8 PM at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory. The rosary will be recited at 8PM.
