The youngest of six children, Julia's siblings were: Andrew Jackson Armstrong, Francis "Fannie" Armstrong (Simpson), James M "Jim" Armstrong, William F "Will" Armstrong, and Winfield Scott Armstrong.
On December 14, 1913, Julia married John William "Will" Henry in Tippah County, Mississippi. Together, they had four known children: an infant (whose gender and exact dates of birth and death are unknown) believed to have been born in mid to late 1914 and died in early 1915, Martha Frances Henry (Sides), Gracie L. Henry (Armstrong), and James Edna Henry aka Edna Mae Henry (Gary, Ferguson).
Julia, a widow since 1970, died on September 26, 1979 in Mesa, Arizona. She was living in the home of her youngest daughter, Edna, at the time of her passing. Though there is a dual headstone for Julia and her husband in Harmony Baptist Cemetery in Walnut, Mississippi, she is actually buried at City of Mesa Cemetery in Mesa.
