Mrs. Emma T. Rogers, age 89, of Spring Place passed away suddenly Sunday Morning at the family residence.
Mrs. Rogers had been in her usual health and her death came unexpectedly.
She was born in Murray County May 12, 1876, daughter of the late John and Jane Hooper Tucker.
She was a member of the Sugar Valley Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. J. S. Rogers, three years ago.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by on daughter, Mrs. Timms, Spring Place; two stepdaughters, Mrs. W. J. Couch of Sugar Valley and Mrs. D. F. Johns of Resaca; four sons, the Rev. A. D. Rogers of Sugar Valley, Luther Rogers of Tunnel Hill, Burton Rogers of Calhoun, and C. B. Rogers of Houston, Tex.; one stepson, Tom Rogers of Sugar Valley; one sister, Mrs. Jo Sanders of Dalton; 43 grandchildren and 92 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rogers were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the New Prospect Baptist Church in Murray County; the Rev. Frank Cobb and Rev. Jessie Howell officiating.
Music was arranged by the Jubelairs Quartet. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Burial followed in the church cemetery. Combs Funeral Home.
