Mr. Van Horn was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He served on councils and boards of several business-related organizations. He was a graduate of the Hill School on Pottstown, PA., and Tulane University. Mr. Van Horn served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Boston, Louisiana, Pickwick, Stratford Clubs, the New Orleans Country Club, The New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club, South Yacht club; Avoca Duck Club and several Carnival orgranizations.
He was survived by his wife, Teetsie Van Horn, two sons, Dr. H.W. Van Horn III and Charles James Van Horn; three daughters, Marion Van Horn Eagan, Gladys Reiss Van Horn and Katherine Van horn, and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday December 19 at 2 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, 2919 St. Charles Ave. Burial was in the Metarie Cemetery. Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home handled all of the arrangements.
