Services for long time Inola resident, John Loye Gilmore, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Inola First Baptist Church. Pastor Blake Gideon will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery under direction of the Inola Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be Monday 1 until 8 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6 until 7 p.m.

John passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009, at his home in Inola at the age of 80.

The son of James Virgil and Velma Reedy Goodpaster Gilmore was born November 20, 1928 in Wagoner, OK. He graduated from Wagoner High School and continued his education at Northeastern State University receiving his undergraduate and Masters Degrees. On June 14, 1952, he married Geneva Louise Stacy in Arkansas. John began his professional career as a teacher and Principal at Inola High School where he worked for 13 years. In 1968, he joined Amoco as a computer co-ordinator and trainer. He retired in 1986. John was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lions Club, and most recently the Inola Senior Citizens, where he enjoyed shooting pool with friends. Some of his favorite times in his life were spent hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmy Gilmore; and granddaughter, Joy Baldwin.

Family members surviving are his wife of 56 years, Geneva; son, Dan and wife, Jan Gilmore of Inola; daughters, Johnna and husband, Steve Robinson of Inola, and Penny and husband, Ted Brabham of Atlanta, TX; grandchildren, Troy Gilmore, Rocky Fugate, Summer Tucker, Teddy and Scarlet Brabham; 4 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Lou and husband, Billy Jack Hutchens of Wagoner, Alice Rae Dunaway of Jenks, and sister-in-law Mary Evelyn Gilmore of Wagoner; extended family members and a host of life long friends.
