Shawnee homemaker Grace W. Curtess died Tuesday in a local nursing home. She was 90. Mrs. Curtess was born January 25, 1909 in Shawnee, Indian Territory to George and Winnifred Tracy Utter Brown.

She attended Canadian Valley Grade Schools and Bethel High School. She married Justus Wesley Curtess on September 16, 1923 in Shawnee.

She was a lifelong member of the Blackburn Baptist Church, a member of the Happy Circle Home Demonstration Club and the Cheerful Workers Club.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Hamida Curtess of Rockport, Texas, a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Calvin Jacobs of Bethel Acres, a sister, Helen Brown Gillin of Porter, a son-in-law, John T. Windel of Shawnee, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, five sisters, her husband on May 25, 1985, two daughters and a son-in-law, Janetta and Milton Ayers, Nina M. Windel and two grandsons, Michael Ayers and Curt D. Windel.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Searl and Mike Brakebill officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
