ROSEDALE- Robert Lee (Bob) Pruett, 78, of Rosedale died at 11:30 am Thursday, January 1, 2008 at his daughter's residence in Chandler, Indiana.

He was a mechanic.

He was born July 8, 1930 in Linton, Indiana. His wife of 55 years, Maurine Ruth Jenkins Pruett whom he married March 4, 1950 died April 23, 2005.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Kay (Samuel G.) Hoar and Sheila Marie (Michael J.) Murphy; one son, Robert Alan ( Sandra L.) Pruett; son-in-law Bosko Maksimovich; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Robert was a well-loved and hard working man who survived the Great Depression. He had worked since he was 7 years old, picking up coal on the railroad tracks to sell or give to neighbors. He mowed grass and did several of odd job, until he was employed at age 10, by Leo Cox, to pick strawberries and make ice deliveries, haul coal, grain, and trash.
During the WWII he was employed by Harvey Froderman at Terre Haute Truck Parts and worked to dismantle vehicles for the steel shortage. Robert then worked as a mechanic for Tumpane War Depot rebuilding army trucks, tanks and amphibian ducks. After the war, he worked as a mechanic for Pappy Peters Auto sales in until he was reemployed by Mr. Froderman, at Chevrolet, as a day mechanic and night wrecker driver. Bob worked as a mechanic and retired from American Brass/Anaconda/Alcan of Terre Haute after 291/2 years and also owned a small farm in the town of Atherton, IN. He enjoyed raising and caring for his farm animals and helping his neighbors. He was named "Mayor of Atherton" by his neighbors and friends. Roberts work is now over. Robert can now rest beside his beloved wife, his daughter, Sherri Lynn (Pruett) Maksimovich, mother, Doris Uland Harmon and step-father Oscar Harmon.

Graveside services are 11:00 am Monday, Jan. 5, in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in North Terre Haute, with the Rev. Tom Morgan officiating. Burial will follow.

Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Deaconess Hospice Care, 701 Garfield Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710 in his memory.
