Q. C. Irby, (Bud), 66, of Moneta, passed away Saturday, November 1, 1997. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. and a graduate of Roanoke College. Bud enjoyed his early retirement from the Social Security Administration. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Jay Irby, his parents, Julian C. and Evelyn S. Irby, and a sister, Betty I. Nichols. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Lee and Kim Irby, Radford; two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth and Robert Stephen Irby; two sisters, Virginia I. Baker, Vinton, Judy I. Mann, Roanoke; a brother, Ronald H. Irby, Lynchburg; three nieces and four nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the home of Virginia Baker, 880 Lauderdale Ave., Vinton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Scruggs Life Saving Crew, P. O. Box 67, Wirtz, Va. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, where the family will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
