Mrs. Ora Cleo Abernathy, of Lutesville, died Monday, January 14 at a daughter's home in Herrin, IL. She was 80 years old. The former Miss Choate was born in Buchanan on December 23, 1899.
She married Delmar H. Abernathy in 1915. He died in 1971.
She was a member of the Church of God in Lutesville.
Surviving are three sons, James W. Abernathy of Sikeston, MO; Benjamin F. Abernathy of Lutesville, MO; and William L. Abernathy of Cape Girardeau, MO; two daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Murphy of St. Louis, MO; and Mrs. Wilma M. Dugger of Herrin, IL; one brother, W.W. Choate of Marble Hill, MO; two sisters, Mrs. Alda Myrick of St. Louis, MO; and Mrs. Mildred Little of Winter Haven, FL; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
An infant son preceded her in death.
Service was Thursday at the Church of God in Lutesville. Burial was in Baker Cemetery near Lutesville. Baker Funeral Home handles arrangements.
