WILLARD - Don C. Barker, 87, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2004, at his home in Willard of causes incident to age. He was born October 6, 1916, in Willard, Utah, a son of Alfred Great Barker and Sarah Pricilla Cordon. He married DeNece Pierson on June 4, 1943, in the Logan L.D.S. Temple.
Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a missionary in the Northwestern States Mission. He also served in many leadership positions, including Bishop of the Willard First Ward. He owned and operated Barker Fruit and Dairy Farm in Willard with his wife and family, where he enjoyed many bounteous fruit harvests and looked forward to visits with long-time friends and customers.
The Barker farm has been in existence for 150 years and was honored as a Century Farm and Ranch. Don also drove the school bus in the Box Elder School District. Don loved hunting and the mountains.
He enjoyed animals and his love for horses brought others and him much joy. He enjoyed driving his horse-drawn buckboard in parades and to church and giving his grandchildren Sunday afternoon rides. He loved to work and taught his children and grandchildren the importance of hard work.
He is survived by his wife and seven children: Deon (Cordell) Ferry, Henefer; LeAnne (Verlo) Hunsaker, Willard; Pamela Molgard Anderson, Brigham City; Colleen (Glen) Koga, Roy; Fred (Debbie) Barker, Willard; Tyler (Lenny) Barker, Willard; Ivy Marie (Reuel) Reeder, Layton; thirty-seven grandchildren and forty-two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters. The family would like to thank the staff at Brigham City Community Hospital, Carol and Kim of IHC Hospice, and Doctors Beard, Larsen, Hillam and Keller.
Services will be held Saturday, January 31, at 11 a.m. at the Willard First Ward Chapel, 80 North 100 West, Willard. Friends may call on Friday, January 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, and on Saturday at the Willard First Ward from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services.
Interment will be in the Willard City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Willard First Ward missionary fund or IHC Hospice.
