DeNece was born October 18, 1923 in Plymouth, Utah to Ivy Mathias and Gilbert R. Pierson.
She was raised in Bear River City. She graduated from Box Elder High School. While working at People's Drug in Brigham City she met Don C. Barker from Willard. They were married on June 4, 1943, in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Don died on January 26, 2004. Together they owned and operated the Barker Fruit and Dairy Farm in Willard.
She served in many church positions, including MIA secretary, Primary President, teacher, and In-service leader, Relief Society Counselor and visiting teacher.
DeNece loved her family, Utah Jazz, her grandchildren, The Game Show Network, her great- grandchildren, word search puzzles, her family and the life she and Don created on the "Family Centennial Farm!" Her grilled cheese sandwiches, peach shakes, cherry bites and Schwan's ice cream will be missed. Her homemade custards were always there for friends and family when experiencing hard times or illness. Her home was the gathering place for family on Sunday afternoons.
She is survived by her children: Deon (Cordell) Ferry, Henefer; LeAnne (Verlo) Hunsaker, Willard; Pamela (DeLoy) Bench, Brigham; Colleen (Glen) Koga, Roy; Fred (Debra) Barker, Willard; Tyler (Lenny) Barker, Willard; Ivy Marie (Reuel) Reeder, Kansas City, MO. She has 32 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren. Also brother, Robert (Reva) Anderson, Perry, UT; and sister, Jean Facer, Rupert, ID.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Byron, Donald, and Ardell Anderson, and two sons-in-law Kent Molgard and Lynn Anderson.
The family would like to thank Intermountain Hospice, especially Julie, Bobbie, Dr. John Wood and Dr. Lynn Beard and others that assisted in her care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Willard 1st Ward Chapel, 80 N. 100 W., Willard. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Willard Church. Interment will be in the Willard Cemetery.
