Obituary, March 5, 1914. Amanda J. H. King
Amanda J. Hudson King, born February 24, 1839, died February 18, 1914, aged 74 years, 11 months and and 24 days. Married to Ambrose G. King in the year 1858, who preceded her March 11, 1913, they having lived together more than half a century. To them were born ten children, seven whom are living: W. R. King, Mrs. Wm. Barrett and Miss Kate M. King of Barnesville, Mrs. Leander Davies of Beallsville, Mrs. C. W. McFrederick and Mrs. Emily K. Tipton of Jerusalem and Chas. S. King of Princeton, Ill. Services were held at the home of C. W. McFrederick, Rev. L. W. Jones and Rev. Gillespie officiating. She was laid to rest in the Jerusalem Cemetery, followed by a large concourse of friends and relatives.
Mrs. King lived at Barnesville for a number of years, removing to Jerusalem after the death of her husband last spring. She was a woman admired and esteemed by all who knew her and was recognized as one possessing to an unusual degree those true womanly qualities of kindness, charity and good will toward all, that will ever be cherished in the memory of those she leaves behind.
