Dorothy Ford was the first of four daughters born to Marie Gray Dunford and Lon Dunford in Louisville, Kentucky. A child prodigy on the piano, "Dotti" first learned to play when she was three years old. She studied privately in Houston, Texas where she was active as a pianist with several music and arts groups such as Houston Light Opera and concertising as soloist with the Houston Symphony Orchestra while in her early teens. She met and married Ramon Ford in Houston in 1951 and moved to the Dallas area in 1953. She was well known in the Dallas area as an outstanding piano instructor. She and Ramon had three children: Lonna Marie, Ramon III, and Jonathan Ballard.She was cremated in 1997.
