Gladys was the daughter of Henry A. Phend and Susie Lula Yarian.
She married on September 1, 1922, Whitley County, Indiana, to Ralph Bryan Pressler.

Monday July 6,1931:
Mrs. Ralph B. Pressler, 34, of Fort Wayne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Phend of this city passed away at the Linvill Memorial hospital in this city at 3:10 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Pressler was taken ill on Sunday a week ago with appendicitis and submitted to an operation which was followed by paralysis of the bowels.
Mrs. Pressler was formerly Gladys Irene Phend and was born August 8, 1896 at Nappanee, Ind. In 1898 she came with her parents to Columbia City where she grew to womanhood. She attended the public schools in this city and on September 1, 1922 was united in marriage to Ralph B. Pressler of Fort Wayne. The deceased had made her home in Fort Wayne since her marriage.
She leaves to mourn her passing the husband and parents, one sister, Mrs. Lee Holderman of Phoenix, Ariz., and the following brothers, Victor, Russell, Donald, Virgil, Paul, and Gerald of this city and Cecil Phend of Spencerville, Ind. One brother preceded her in death. Other surviving relatives are eighteen nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Pressler was highly esteemed by those who knew her. Her interests centered around her home and family and in the welfare of those about her.
Funeral services will be held from the United Brethren church in this city at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Noah McCoy officiating. Interment in South Park cemetery.
The remains may be viewed at the home of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Phend on South Chauncey St. until the hour of the funeral.
