Monday April 23, 1979:
Ralph Bryan Pressler, 82, of Fort Wayne, died at 4:08 a.m. today at Veteran's Hospital in Fort Wayne. He entered the hospital on October 4, 1977.
Born July 18, 1896 in North Manchester, he was a son of Wayne and Cora Anspaugh Pressler. He spent his entire life in Fort Wayne following his education in North Manchester.
He was a veteran of World War I Coast Artillery of the U.S. Army; American Legion Post 96 since 1922. He had been a member of Post 47, Fort Wayne American Legion, F & AM, Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, charter member of Whitley County Shrine Club, Mizpah Legion of Honor, honorary life member of Elks Lodge 1417.
In 1922 he was married to Gladys Phend at the home of the late Rev. L.A. Luckenbill. She preceded him in death on July 4, 1931.
In 1936 he was married in New York City to Gladys Martin. She preceded him in death on January 3, 1953. Mr. Pressler had resided at Loon Lake during summers. Several cousins in the area survive.
Friends may call at J.A. DeMoney and Son Funeral Home from 7-9p.m. Tuesday. Military rites will be by Columbia City American Legion Post at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Graham Kleespie. Burial will be in South Park cemetery.
