Jas K. Charlton writes from Lebanon, Linn county, Oregon. He sends $2.00 for the Independent and says that he was born in Greenbrier in 1824, lived on what was then Charlton Mountain and afterward on Muddy Creek where his neighbors were Andrew and Jacob Hamilton, Joseph McClung and Sam'l McClung, "Devil Sam" the Nimrod of Greenbrier. Mr Charlton says he left Greenbrier on foot in February 1846 and that outside of his own family has not seen a son or daughter of Greenbrier since.
