Parents born in Germany, husband of Anna Marie (aka Marie) BEEBE he married on 29 Nov 1898 in Genoa, DeKalb Co, IL. A discrepancy exists, one record saying that he was born in Jun 1874 and another saying Jun 1879. Perhaps his wife Marie didn't know the proper year as such things might not have been so important because they had no children. Perhaps she bought the stone well after his death and the carver got it wrong...no sense in spending good money after bad just to change the year (as had to be done on Willard BEEBE Sr's marker) or completely replace the marker. Or the marker may have been bought and placed after Marie died for them both to share and the purchaser was only able to approximate John BABBLER's birth year. In any case, obit found by findagrave.com contributor larry60109 confirms that he was born on 3 Jun 1870 as he was "65 years old when he died" on 13 Sep 1935 having been retired for 6 years, obit:

Funeral services were conducted
on Monday afternoon in Genoa for
John Babbler, Illinois, Central railway
station agent for 37 years, who
died late Friday evening at his home
after a short illness.
Mr. Babbler, who retired from his
railway duties six years ago, was
65 at his passing.
Services were conducted yesterday
at the Genoa M. E. church with Rev.
W. H. Ake officiating and interment
in Charter Grove cemetery. His
widow, Anna Marie Beebe Babbler;
and one sister, Rachel Hefty of New
Glarus, Wis., are left to mourn.
Mr. Babbler, native of Green
county, Wis., was born June 3, 1870
and was wed Nov. 18, 1898 at Genoa
