Mrs. Frances Ponder McBryde, 90, 247 Litchfield Street, Rockmart, died on Friday, June 13, 2008. Mrs. McBryde was born on April 23, 1918 in Bartow County, the daughter of the late Ransom Ponder and the late Fannie Stokes Ponder. She was a seamstress for over 25 years for the Arrow Shirt Factory and was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart. Mrs. McBryde was preceded in death by five sisters, Ila Cantrell, Cora Lee Black, Lucy Cochran, Beatrice Popham and Nell Morgan; and two brothers, Clayton Ponder and Charlie Ponder. Survivors include her husband, George P. McBryde of Rockmart; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Vickie McBryde of Cartersville; and a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Richard Johnson of Rockmart; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 15 in the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart with the Rev. Robert Wright and Rev. David Warriner officiating. Interment was in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Purser, Jerry McDurmond, Jimmy Childers, Jerry Ballard, William Bowman and Steve Turner. Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
