Lucy Maude Cochran, age 86, of Cartersville, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998. Mrs. Cochran was born March 27, 1912, in Bartow County, and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Cochran; a son, James Cochran; and her parents, Ransom and Fannie Stokes Ponder. Survivors include a son, Donald Cochran of Cartersville; a brother, Clayton Ponder of Cedartown; four sisters, Ila Ponder Cantrell and Cora Lee Ponder Black, both of Kingston, and Bessi Nell Ponder Morgan and Frances Ponder McBryde, both of Rockmart; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, May 22, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence Garrett officiating. Interment followed in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers included Earl Black, Charles Morgan, Terry Popham, Elwood Dudley, Marvin Hardy and Wendell Cochran. Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
