Mrs. Floyd Alka Dies At Hospital
Mrs. Gladys Alka, 55, 1630 Union street, died about 5:30 a.m. today at the Bartholomew county hospital. She was the wife of Floyd Alka, and had been in ill health for several months.
Mrs. Alka was born June 4, 1910, at Mt. Carmel, Ill., the daughter of Clarence and Edna King Curran. She was married to Mr. Alka in St. Louis in 1925, and they moved to Columbus in 1930. She was a member of the East Columbus Church of Christ and president of the church Loyal Boosters class.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. H. Porter Wynn at 3 p.m. Monday at the Hathaway funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery. Persons may call at the funeral home after 11:30 Sunday.
Besides her husband Mrs. Alka is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Everett Shock; two sons, Bobbie C. Alka of Route 5 and David K. Alka at home; two sisters, Mrs. George Stofer of Route 5 and Mrs. John Leek of Mt. Carmel; two brothers, Charles A. Curran of Indianapolis and William J. Curran of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
