When Steven arrived in Vietnam 24 March 1967, he was assigned to Bravo Company,1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
Steven was wounded by hostile rifle fire during a combat operation in the vicinity of Hill 51, 2 kilometers west of Que Son in Quang Nam Province.
Due to the nature of his wounds received 21 May 1967 and after spending time recovering from his wounds Steven was medically retired from the Marines 29 February 1968 and died of his wounds 26 November 1968 while living in Utah.
His name was added to the Vietnam WALL on November 1987.
Survived by his step-father and mother, Edwin J and Georgia D Turner, his two brothers; Paul and David and his 4 sisters; Sheila, Peggy, Dixie and Mary Elizabeth all of Saint George, Utah and his father; Mark Connell.
