Betty Jean Whiteley Fillingim was born Nov. 27, 1930, in Kelton, Texas to Sidney Whiteley and Kansas Horton Whiteley. She moved to Grand Prairie in 1967. Betty married Hugh E. Fillingim on Dec. 9, 1980. She was a homemaker and caregiver. Above all, her family was most important. She never met a stranger and delighted in telling stories and making people laugh. Betty was famous for her unique words and accent. She took pleasure in cooking, cards, games and puzzles, and spending time with friends. She was a loyal friend and cherished by all. She will be missed greatly by all those who loved her. Her memory will live eternally in our hearts.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Hugh E. Fillingim; a son, David Norman Sexton; her parents; and a sister, Vivian Riley.
Survivors: Son, Lyndell Sexton and wife, Melody; daughter-in-law, Chris Sexton; grandchildren, Gary Don Leatherman and wife, Jayme, Kasey Sexton, Sascha Sexton Couch and husband, Shane, David-Michael Sexton, Andea Sexton, Jake Sexton; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Sidney Jackson; brother, Don Whiteley of Pampa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
