Chester's obituary appeared in the Thursday, March 11, 1954 issue of the Arkansas City Daily Traveler, Arkansas City, Cowley County, Kansas:

"Chester C. Lashbrook
Dies Here Thursday

Chester C. Lashbrook, 82, pioneer resident of this community, died at 9 a.m., Thursday morning in Memorial Hospital. He was born in Garden City, Minn., Oct. 22, 1871, and moved to Arkansas City with his parents in 1888.

He resided on a farm 10 miles southeast of Arkansas City in Oklahoma where he lived for many years prior to his retirement in 1944 when he moved to Arkansas City. His home address is 508 S. Seventh St.

He was preceded in death by his wife who died in 1944 and is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Goldie Herbert of Newkirk and a brother, Oscar Lashbrook of Arkansas City.

Funeral services will be announced. Stahl Funeral Service, Newkirk, is in charge of arrangements."

Services for Chester C. Lashbrook, who died Thursday, will be at the Stahl Funeral Home at Newkirk, Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Carl Packard of First Christian Church of Newkirk, officiating. Burial will be at Parker Cemetery east of Arkansas City."
