Richard's obituary was published in the Thursday, April 28, 1932 issue of The Buffalo Relfex, Buffalo, Dallas County, Missouri:

"R. A. Lashbrook

Richard Alvin Lashbrook, son of Aaron and Amanda Lashbrook, was born in Horton, Iowa, October 25, 1861. He grew to manhood in Iowa. When he was about 15 years of age the family moved to Nebraska.

Mr. Lashbrook was married to Lemery Sharp at Phillipsburg, Kan., October 15, 1885. Mrs. Lashbrook preceded him in death 11 months and 1 day. They had no children born to them, but reared two orphan children, Alfred L. Keezer, of Shasta, Calif., and Mrs. Vada Merrick, Ponca City, Okla., who was present.

Mr. Lashbrook was baptized and united with the Baptist church at Alma, Nebr., May 25, 1899. He was a good neighbor and progressive citizen. He died suddenly and quietly at his home near Louisburg about 8:30 o'clock Monday evening, April 25, 1932. He was 70 years and 6 months of age. Since his wife's death he had lived with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Beck. He leaves to mourn their loss besides those already mentioned, three brothers, Myron, Almena, Kan., Chester, Arkansas City, Kans, who was present, Oscar, Arkansas City, Kan., a sister, Mrs. Dora E. Smith, Arkansas City, Kan., who was present, Mrs. Chas. Lashbrook and children, Blackwell, Okla., Mrs. Chester Lashbrook, Ralph Lashbrook, Bartlesville, Okla., and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Browning, Arkansas City, Kan., were here also, besides numerous other relatives, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church at Louisburg Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. V. R. Walker. Interment was made in the Louisburg cemetery under the direction of L. B. Jones."
