EARL DAVIS
Earl Davis, 71, died at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday at the Heritage Home in Plainview after a lengthy illness.
Services were at 4 p.m. Thursday in the First Assembly of God with Rev.
Mike McDaniels, pastor of the First Assembly of God in Conroe, and Rec.
Renay Rice, pastor of the First Assembly of God in Tulia, officiating.
Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wallace Funeral Home.
He was born on January 23, 1916 in Grasonia, Arkansas. He married Essie Bryant on December 23, 1937 in Bonham, Texas and she died January 7, 1972.
He later married Clara Marcella Brinkley on February 15, 1979 in Tulia and she died May 25, 1987. He came to Swisher County in 1954 from Fannin County and was a farmer and had retired as maintenance employee in the Tulia Public Schools. He was a member of the First Assembly of God.
He is survived by two daughters, Rita Burns of Fort Worth and Darlene McDaniels of Conroe; thrree sons, Bennie Davis of Fort Worth, Jimmie Davis of Plainview and Glan Davis of Tulia; one stepson, Billy Jack Morse of Tulia; two sisters, Flora Flanagan of Planon and Maynell Corbitt of Sherman; four brothers, Roy Ellison of Corsicana, Clark Ellison and Eugene Ellison, both of Bells and Ira Lee Ellison of Pottsboro; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Elbert Hembree, Edd Shelton, Woody Spencer, Rusty Love, Joe Lavender and Lloyd Kirkland.
