Willie Lee ‘Bill' Clampitt

CLYDE – Willie Lee "Bill" Clampitt, 75 of Clyde and formerly of Sanger, died Thursday, October 11, 2007, at an Abilene hospital.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2007 at the Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Emmett Clampitt and Rev. Larry Hooper officiating. Burial will be at 11a.m. Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Sanger Cemetery.

Mr. Clampitt was born December 16, 1931 in Era, Texas to Du-Pree Logan and Leona Masten Clampitt. He graduated from Era High School. He graduated from the Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington, Texas. He was the widower of Doris Dean Pennington, whom he married July 24, 1954 in Sanger. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2000. Mr. Clampitt was a Baptist minister for over 40 years and retired from the Denton ISD maintenance department after over 35 years of service. He came to Clyde in 2000 from Sanger. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Clyde.

Survivors include one daughter, Billie and husband, Danny Parker of Clyde; one son, Michael and wife, Trisha Clampitt of Sachse, Texas; one brother, Emmett and wife, Barbara Clampitt of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Rice in November, 1985; two brothers, Marshall and J.D. Clampitt; two sisters, Dorothy McClendon and Jackie Hanks.

Visitation will be from 4 – 6 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Bailey Funeral Home.
