Elmer F. "Bud" Riney, son of the late Elmer Thomas and Pearl Denton Riney, was born in Bell City on Nov. 28, 1931, and died at his home near Puxico on Nov. 12, 2007, at the age of 75.
Mr. Riney had lived all his life in the Puxico area. He was a retired row crop farmer, cattle farmer and minister. He had served as pastor of the Providence Baptist Church, Little Bethel Church in Fairdealing, and the Zalma Baptist Church. He had been a member of the Providence Baptist Church near Puxico for the past 33 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served during the Korean Conflict.
In 1954 he was married to Shirley Kindred, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 8, 2000. On May 5, 2001, he was married to Joyce Lee Kindred in Puxico.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Lee Riney of Puxico; one son, Steven Joe Riney of Puxico; one daughter, Katherine Sue Sawyer of Dexter; one step-son, David Bridges of Puxico; two step-daughters, Pamela L. Dalton of Corunna, Mich. and Patricia Taylor of Phoenix City, Ala.; three grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, L.V. Riney of Sikeston and John Riney of DeSoto; and one sister, Viola Meyers of Camarilla, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Ann Riney; three sisters, Ethel Cury, Helen Marie Schneider, and Mildred Powers; and two brothers, Virgle and Paul Riney.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Elder Don Adams of Matthews officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Puxico with full military honors.
Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico is in charge of all arrangements.
