Wayne "Squire" Elvin Amdor passed away July 28, 2007, at his home in Plant City, Fla. He was born Aug. 27, 1925, at Sunman, Ind., the son of Walter and Rella Dewey Amdor.

He entered the Army Air Corps on Jan. 19, 1944, during his senior year of high school at Farmer City. He was a veteran of World War II and reached the rank of staff sergeant. He flew 26 missions over Europe and was awarded the Air Medal while a member of the Liberator Bombardment group.

Wayne graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in journalism.

He married Ruth Ornsby of Mystic, Iowa. They moved to Bloomington, with their daughter, Deborah, and he was employed by the Pantagraph.

Later he moved to Florida where he was employed by the Lakeland Ledger. He has been retired for many years.

Wayne is survived by daughter, Deborah Amdor, Bloomington; brother, Wilbur (Bill) (Roberta) Amdor, Heyworth; sisters, Effie Vance, DeWitt, and Edna Daniels, Omaha, Neb.; brother-in-law, Harold Miller, Farmer City; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Joyce Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
