Completed his earthly life at age 91 after living a productive long life. Born in Lewiston, Utah. Son of Andrew William Hyer and Elaine Hillyard Hyer. Raised on a Lewiston farm. Married Arlene Allen of Cove, Utah September 6, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Parents of two children, Warren and Elaine. Arlene passed away June 8, 1995 in San Luis Obispo, California. Lived there for 44 years. A World War II U.S. Army Signal Service GHQ/PAC veteran serving in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines.

Graduated from Utah State College with BS and MS degree. Completed his PhD degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. Degrees where in Agricultural Economics. Received a Phi Kappa Phi scholarship and a Alpha Kappa Psi award. Taught three years at Oregon State College. Thirty-one years of teaching at Cal Poly University, San Louis Obispo.

Became head of the Farm Management Department in its infancy. Watched it grow to the largest Farm Management Department in the nation with approximately 900 students. Honored by the former Secretary of Agriculture Earl Butz upon retirement. The "Hyer Ag Scholarship Fund" was established at that time. Involved in community activities in San Louis Obispo and LDS church. Chairmen of Boy Scouts of America.

Survived by son Warren A. (Va Lynn) Hyer and daughter, Elaine Bell; brothers Maurice Hyer and Earl Hyer; sisters Louise Drury and Wilma Spence; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Services held at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, September 15, 2007.
