Mary Jeanette Buchanan was born on December 2, 1917, to Frank and Mary Ryan Funke in St. Louis, Missouri. She passed away on the morning of August 17, 2007, in her home, after a short illness. She lived in Pacific, Missouri, until her first marriage, when she moved to Springfield, and has resided in this area since that time. Jeanette was married to James Paul Buchanan in 1958 and they lived in Bois D'Arc, Missouri, until 1990, when they moved to Springfield. Paul preceded her in death on April 27, 2002. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Elmer and Norbert Funke; one sister, Virginia Horki; and one great-grandson, Adam Taylor. Jeanette was the devoted mother of three sons, James, William and Robert, and worked tirelessly to support them. She was a gifted gardener and could breathe life into the most spindly plant. Jeanette was also a gifted seamstress and produced many beautiful quilts over the years. She was still attending weekly quilting sessions at the Nixa Senior Center until her recent illness. Jeanette loved to fish and was an enthusiastic St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a longtime active member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church of Bois D'Arc. Jeanette is survived by her three sons, Jim Taylor and his wife, Claudette, of Highlandville, Mo., and their children, Jimmy Taylor, Kathy Stewart and husband, Russell, Kim Taylor, Nicole Taylor and Bobby Taylor; Bill Taylor and his wife, Mary Jo, Waynesville, Mo., and sons, Alan and wife, Lisa Taylor, Scott Taylor and Jason Taylor; Bob Taylor and his wife, Jennifer, Ozark, Mo., and daughters, Amanda Clark and husband, Jason, and Kelly Taylor. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Weston and Jessica Stewart, Alanna Taylor, Courtney and Landon Clark. Jeanette was an extremely kind and generous person, always putting others first and herself last. She will be sorely missed and long remembered. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2007, at Wilson Brim Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove, with burial to follow in Clear Creek Cemetery, Willard. Visitation will be 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2007, in the funeral home.
