Carmen Irene Martinsen, 55, Route 3, Beaver Dam, died Sunday, May 15, 1983 at Hillside Hospital. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, from St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Budde officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Martinsen was born on Sept. 13, 1927, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Marcel and Bernice (Brooks) Smith. She was married to Glen B. Martinsen on July 19, 1958. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Beaver Dam and lived in the Beaver Dam area all her life. She was employed at Kraft Foods.
Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Karen (Richard) Parli, Amissville, Va.; Tracy Martinsen, Columbus; two sons, Chip (Kathryn) Martinsen, Clarksville, Tenn.; Timothy Martinsen, Beaver Dam; one granddaughter; one sister, Beverly (James) Hammer, Beaver Dam; one brother, David (Joyce) Smith, Oconomowoc; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons and one daughter in infancy.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday in the East Chapel at the Briese Roedl Weber Funeral Home and on Tuesday until 10:30 a.m. A vigil will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 8 p.m.

The three children who died in infancy were all buried at the head or foot of the graves of Carmen's grandparents, Daniel & Sadie (Roedl) SMITH, according to the St. Peter's Interment record. One of the infants was Mary who was buried there on February 9, 1958; another was unnamed, born and died on February 8, 1963, and another was Michael David. All three were premature babies according to this record.
