Marcel was the oldest of five children of Daniel Frederick SMITH and Sarah A. "Sadie" ROEDL.

Marcel J. Smith, 76, of 312 N. Lincoln Ave., Beaver Dam, died at his home on Saturday, Feb. 10, 1979. He had suffered from a heart condition the past three months. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Briese Roedl Weber Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Walsh and Rev. Phillip Essex will officiate, and burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born in Beaver Dam on Jan. 6, 1903, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Smith. He was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School and married Bernice Brooks of Beaver Dam on Jan. 5, 1926. She died in 1973. On Jan. 7, 1978, he married Aletta Reinhard of Morco, Calif. Mr. Smith was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Order of Forresters, and was curator of the Dodge County Historical Society for the past eight years. He was formerly employed by the MIR Co.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. James (Beverly) Hammer, and Mrs. Glen (Carmen) Martinsen, both of Beaver Dam; a son, David of Oconomowoc; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Roland and Alvin, both of Beaver Dam; and a sister, Mrs. Butch (Nina) Glodowsky, Beaver Dam. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a sister, and a grandchild.

Friends may call at the Briese Roedl Weber Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and until the hour of service on Tuesday. There will be a vigil at 8:15 p.m. Monday.
