Mr Ardapple was born 24 Oct 1863 in Lafayette, Indiana, the son of Gerhard "Garet" Aardapple 1835-1890 and Aaltje "Ellen" Bakker 1832-1913. His father emigrated to Indiana about 1859; his mother born in Wehe gem Leens. Fred was the oldest of 4 known siblings: Frederick G, John, Seymour, and Jennie (John) VanZuiden.
Frederick along his parents, siblings Jennie and John, brother Seymour electing to remain in Indiana, arrived Whiteside County between 1870 & 1888 [the marriage of brother John to Eltje Wiersema, 19 Jan 1888 in Whiteside County.]
Frederick married Esther H Munneke, a Garden Plain native, on 31 Dec 1890 in Fulton, Whiteside County, Illinois. He and Esther moved their family from Fulton to a farm in Garden Plain about 1912 where he lived until his passing, "a prominent farmer of Garden Plain township" (obituary published in The Rock Island Argus).
His wife, Esther, and son Wilford of the home, survive him. He was preceded by his son Frank Garrett in 1923, a sister Jennie VanZuiden in 1929, and his parents.
