Dies At Age of 71

George Washington Detherow, 71, a life-long resident of Webster county, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday at his home near Marshfield after an illness of 18 months.

Mr. Detherow is survived by his wife, Ollie; a son, Murrel of route 1, Marshfield, a daughter, Mrs. Leona Replogle of Marshfield; two brothers, Jasper of Visalia, Calif., and Jake of Greensburg, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Whittaker of Kingman, Kan., Mrs. Mamie Bartlett of Visalia; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held a 2 p.m. Sunday in the Barber-Barto chapel here with the Rev. Wayne Jones of Niangua officiating. Burial was in the Niangua cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Smith, Peo Fellin, Charlie Tower, Lon Minor, Henry Myers and Earl Shields. Music was by Nina Anderson and Jennie Pratt, with Mrs. E. W. Brooks at the piano.
