Paul C. Aschenbrenner, 76, of Rantoul died at 8:20 p.m. June 10, 2007, at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Mr. Aschenbrenner was born the April 26, 1931 in Sublette, a son of Andrew and Mabelle (Degner) Aschenbrenner. He married Norma Wierman on April 21, 1951 in Franklin Grove. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Steven P. Aschenbrenner; one daughter, Linda D. Aschenbrenner; one grandson, Jason P. Aschenbrenner; one granddaughter, Jennifer J. Carter; one great-grandson, McClain C. Carter and one sister, Merle (Dick) McTague.

A brother, William, preceded him in death.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1971 and worked in Civil Service at Chanute Air Force Base for 18 years. He retired as a master sergeant in 1988. He received his bachelor of science degree from Eastern Illinois University. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church, the Masonic Lodge, the American Legion and the Rantoul VFW, where he served as a judge advocate. He was also president of the board for the Chanute Credit Union 1, a teacher at Lincoln Technical Institute and a bus driver for the Rantoul City Schools. He was an avid golfer.

Paul was a devoted husband for 56 years, a father and friend and will be greatly missed.
