FINAL RITES TUESDAY FOR BOVARD ARNOLD

Funeral services for Bovard Arnold were held Tuesday [7 December 1965] at 2 p.m. at the Rock Falls Baptist Church. Burial was in Lewis Cemetery north of Orrick. The Rev. Robert Horton officiated.

Mr. Arnold was the son of Pleasant J. and Laura (Hockensmith) Arnold, both of Ray County. He was born June 23, 1889 at Camden and had lived most of his life in Ray County.

On June 21, 1911, he was married to Bessie McCoy [Bates] of Ray County. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Arnold had been ill 5 years with death coming at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul (Laura) Woods, northeast of Orrick.

Survivors include: one son, Ple[a]sant J. Arnold, Kansas City; one stepson, Andrew M. Bates, also of Kansas City; [daughters] Mrs. Woods of the home, Mrs. Faye Walters, and Mrs. Bessie Woods, both of Excelsior [Springs]; one brother, Walter B. Arnold of Vinita, Okla.; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Rock Falls Baptist Church.

Pall bearers were Junior Walters, Kindall [Kendall] Woods, Jerry Woods, Jimmie Arnold, Jimmie Bates, Bobby Bates, Bob Willoughby and Jim Griffin.
