Bertie Faye Walters, age 95 of Excelsior Springs, passed away Friday March 14, 2008 at the Excelsior Springs Medical Center.

Born June 21, 1912 in Ray County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Bovard and Bessie Ann (McCoy) Arnold. On May 20, 1929 in Olathe, Kansas, she was united in marriage to John William Walters who preceded her in death in 1969. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Walters, Jr.; a grandson, Donald Walters; a great-grandson, John Paul Walters, two sisters and one brother.

Faye is survived by two granddaughters, Connie Fluesmeier of Excelsior Springs and Debra Powers of Louisburg, Kansas; nine great-grandchildren, John, Amy, Jami, Cassie, Nancy, Ryan, Chris, Chad and Shane and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

For 30 years, Mrs. Walters owned and operated the Faye Walters dress Shop in Excelsior Springs before retiring in 1975. Faye was well-known for her oil paintings and she also enjoyed quilting. She was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.at the Pisgah Baptist Church on Hwy 10 east of Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be after 12 Noon Sunday at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7:30 Sunday evening. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.
