HAROLD LLOYD BOONE

Harold Lloyd Boone, age 79 of Spruce Pine, NC passed away April 19 2007 following a lengthy illness.

A native of Mitchell County he was the oldest son of the late Fred T. and Lela Sparks Boone. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Mildred Vance Boone who died in 1996. Born to this union were children Chucky Boone, Dennis Boone, Terry Boone and Karen Nelson. In addition to four grandchildren Harold was also blessed with two great grandchildren, and several grandpets.

He is also survived by his five sisters, Mary Lou Willis and Helen Bartlett of Bakersville, NC, Mae Jarrett of Atlanta, Ga, Betty Jo Gordon, and Faye Thomson of Johnson City, TN, one brother, Henry Boone of Spruce Pine, NC and many nieces nephews and cousins.

Harold Graduated from Bowman High School and served in the Army in the Medical Corp during World War II.

He was a member of Rebels Creek Baptist Church.

Harold was known for his charismatic character and love of life. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, motorcycling, and trucking. In the 70's Harold and Mildred were part of The "Swinging Pines" square dance team.

Harold worked many years in the mining industry and later became the owner of Boone Stone Company, which furnished building stone all over the US, including to the construction of Walt Disney World in Florida.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 21 from 1:00PM until 3:00PM at Rebels Creek Baptist Church, with the funeral service beginning at 3:00. Funeral Services will be officiated by Larry Greene and Steve Sisk. Burial will be at Rebels Creek Cemetery.
