Dennis Boone

January 8, 1956 - August 16, 2022

Dennis Ray Boone, 66 of Spruce Pine passed away doing what he loved on Tuesday, August 16th, 2022.

Dennis was a "professional piddler". He was widely known with his best friend, Beware, for overseeing the Crabtree property. He enjoyed planting fields, and gardens, and trying to get it back to a great natural habitat for the animals that he loved, building roads, cleaning ponds, digging, dirt, rocks, nature were instilled into him at an early age.

In the earlier days, Dennis and his brothers worked in the rock yard and laid rock for his late dad, Harold Lloyd Boone at Boone Stone Company in Spruce Pine. This was a love that was passed on from Dennis's grandfather the late Fred Boone of Rebels Creek.

In the '80s and into the early '90s, he moved to Weaverville to run Stamey's Video with all of his "girls". Most of them to this day still remember him and his hard life lessons!! In the later '90s, he founded the one of a kind Video Drive-In on New Leicester Highway.

In 1997, he returned home to Mitchell County after the death of his mother, Mildred Vance Boone. He tinkered on TVs and VCRs for a while and then he got back into the outdoors and gardening that he loved growing up and never looked back. Restoring cars, motorcycles, just piddling on what he wanted to do that day. Taking his '68 Camaro to Myrtle Beach with his daughter Brandy and later on with her family is a memory that will forever be cherished.

Left behind with his memory is his daughter, Brandy Boone of Spruce Pine, grandchildren; Tequila Ledford (Whit Owensby) and Ransom Ledford also of Spruce Pine. He had one recent great-grandchild and namesake, Jameson Boone Owensby.

The siblings of Dennis include, the late Chuck Boone of Spruce Pine, survivors include his brother Terry Boone and wife, Lisa Lonon Boone of Spruce Pine, his sister Karen Boone of Bristol, Virginia, and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Boone of Spruce Pine; his nephews; Barry Boone and wife, Michelle of Spruce Pine and Cory Nelson of Bristol, Virginia and his niece; Kylee Hilliard also from Bristol, VA. He has many surviving aunts and uncles as well as many cousins, great nephews and great nieces with some in the furry form. He was special to so many to be such a quiet man. If you knew him you had a friend.

The family would love to thank Doug and Liz Armstrong and their children whom he watched grow up over the years and all of his lifelong friends and the amazing members of the Crabtree Club that he loved so much.

The family will be having a private celebration of life at a later time and date. Dennis never wanted a service or the attention so that wish will be honored.

Webb Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Boone and is honored to be serving the Boone family.
