The son of John H. Bauer and Margaret A. Schoen Bauer, he was born at Fairbury, Neb., on March 21, 1924.
On March 19, 1948, he was married to Pauline Ruth O'Neal at Fairbury and to them five sons were born.
He was baptized in the Grace Lutheran Church at Fairbury on April 27, 1924, by Pastor F.W. Korbitz and was confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Gladstone on April 10, 1924,(sic?) by Pastor Marting.
In 1945 Bauer moved to Chester where he was employed as a truck driver by the Foote Oil Company. He also was employed by the Melton Motor Company of Belleville, Kas., until his health failed.
His mother preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline; father, John Bauer of Deshler; five sons, Lavern of Fairbury, Duane of Lincoln, Eugene of Beatrice, Gaylon of Crete and Gerald of Chester; brother, Melvin Bauer of Elkhorn; three sisters, Guila, Mrs. Harold Vinkenberg of Hebron, Donna Ward of Yakima, Wash., and Barbara, Mrs. Gary Jones of Fairbury; and four grandchildren.
Bauer was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Chester where services were conducted Nov. 28 by Pastor Kenneth H. Benson. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were James Melton, Allen Davenport, Irvin Dillion, Jerry Melton, Norbert Bauer and Glenn Day. Honorary pallbearers were George Harms, Keith Johnson, Harold O'Neal, Dolan Frye, Norris Wilhelms and Clarence Baldridge.
