She was united in marriage to Harold Vinkenberg on February 12, 1944 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville, KS by Rev. Paul J. Reith, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church of Fairbury.
She attended grade school at Trinity Lutheran School and District 81 in Jefferson Co. Two years of High School in Gilead and 1 year in Fairbury. Later in life she received her high school diploma through G. E. D. Classes. She took several night courses at Southeast Community College in Fairbury.
She lived all her married life on a farm near Gilead, NE. She was employed by Lolly Manufacturing for 11 years, then at Ashleys Outlet for 11 years in Fairbury, and for 3 years in Hebron for Smitty's bakery, retiring in 1991.
She was preceded in death by husband Harold, her parents, brothers Dale and Melvin.
Survivors are her sisters Donna Ward of Yakima, WA and Barbara Jones of Hays, KS, several nieces and nephews and their spouses, and great nieces and great nephews.
Services will be Wednesday April 1, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury, with Pastor Charles Schmidt officiating. The family will greet friends at the Funeral Home from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Fairbury Cemetery with Memorials established to the Family's Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
