Franklin Bleakney was the youngest of the Bleakney brothers that fought in the Civil War. He was born April 16, 1842 in Pennsylvania as Clyde Franklin. He later changed his name to Benjamin Franklin.
Service: Enlisted 18th Illinois Infantry in 03/1864. Appointed to 17th U.S. Colored Infantry as a 2nd Lt. and promoted to 1st Lt. Mustered out Spring 1866.
