She came to Jasper county in 1875, and on February 28, 1879, was united in marriage with B. F. (Benjamin Franklin) Bleakney. She leaves her husband and three children Mrs. Edna Rhodes of Kellogg, Iowa; Mrs. Clemmie Kenyon of Deep River, Iowa, and DeLon Bleakney of Spruce Bluff, Canada. Two step children, Mrs. Winona Peterson of Lincoln, Nebraska, and W. W. Bleakney of Kellogg, Iowa; besides her father, one sister and three brothers.
She was converted and united with the M. E. church when a girl.
Mrs. Bleakney was a devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor and an every day christian. The beautiful influences of a pure religion were spread over a spotless life and character. As such a life was a blessing and benefaction to all within the sphere of its influence, so is the death of such a one a public misfortune, as well as an irreparable loss to the home circle made desolate by her departure.
Impressive funeral services, attended by a large concourse of sympathizing neighbors and friends, were held at the Christian church on last Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. P. B. Burton of Des Moines, after which all that was mortal of this good wife and mother was tenderly conveyed to our Silent City, north of town, there to await the resurrection morn.
Floral offerings in great profusion and beautiful beyond description, rested upon the casket during the services at the church. These flowers, so typical of the departed one, mutely spoke the pathos of a parting word by friends who loved the sweet sleeper.
