Forrest Andrew Baker, 73, passed away Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Deborah Sessoms. Mr. Baker was born in Floyd County, Ga., Nov. 4, 1933, to the late Gaston Baker and Elizabeth Miller Baker. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and attended New Life Baptist Church in Goldsboro. He is survived by one son, Forrest Gaston Baker and his wife Cindy of Barboursville, Va.; two daughters, Delores Hux and her husband Jeff of Norfolk and Deborah Sessoms and her husband Stephen of Goldsboro; two sisters, Renonda Brumbellow and her husband Wayman of Alabama and Linda Murphy of Georgia; six grandchildren, Johnnie Carter, Jennifer Carter, Nichole Irby, Joshua Sessoms, Krystal Baker and Kimberly Baker; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by one sister, Julia Wilbanks and five brothers. A funeral will be held today at 6 p.m. in New Life Baptist Church in Goldsboro. The Rev. Rick Mondell will officiate. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends following the service this evening at New Life Baptist Church in Goldsboro. Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one's choice. Condolences to the Baker family may be posted at www.howellfuneral.com.
