- At his residence in McPhersonville, on January 12, Thomas Woodward Hutson, M.D., died in the 84th year of his age.

Interment was at Stoney Creek, Beaufort County.

Dr. Hutson for over 50 years practiced his profession in Hampton and Beaufort counties and was much beloved by all who knew him.

During the War Between the Sections he was first surgeon of the Third regiment of cavalry (Col. Colcock)C.S.A., and afterwards was appointed by General Hardee, surgeon in chief of the district of Georgia, and served until the end of the war.

He is survived by his second wife, who was Miss Dora Furman of Greenville, and his three daughters, Miss Augusta Caroline Hutson, Mrs. Robert Barnwell Heyward and Mrs. McLeod Hutson, and by his half brothers, William M. Hutson and John C. Hutson of Aiken, besides a number of grandchildren.
