Helen E. (Siscel) Miller, 80, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at her granddaughter's residence.
She was a graduate of Reitz High School. Helen attended St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, where she worked in the food pantry and was the founding member of The Friendship Club. Helen enjoyed crafts and was a member of the Home Economics Club, the Craft Girls, the Flower Girls and a Girl Scout leader. She loved the winter season and the snow. Helen was a Christian and never tired of helping people. She never met a stranger, which explained her host of friends.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Meyer and her husband, Roger of Evansville; son, Russell Miller of Evansville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie Devine and her husband, Jim of Newburgh and Sharion Miller and her husband, Darrell of Evansville; sister, Shirley Joest of Indianapolis; brothers and sisters-in-law, John "Freddie" Siscel of Evansville and Don Siscel and his wife, Monie of Evansville; grandchildren, Melissa Craig, Troy Meyer and his wife, Amy, Holly Meyer and Amanda Meyer; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Russell J. Miller in 1989, and a daughter, Frances Thompson, in 1995.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007, at St. Matthews UCC, 3007 First Ave., Evansville, with Pastor Art Christmas officiating. Burial will be held at Locust Hill Cemetery, Evansville. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007, and 10 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2007, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at St. Matthews UCC, Evansville.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthews UCC Food Bank, 3007 First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710.

The family would like to extend thanks to the Heritage Hospice staff, especially Sonja Williams, for all the care and concern for Helen.
