S.T. ACKERMAN DEAD
He was 80 Years Old and Had Lived in Chanute 20 Years

S.T. Ackerman, 1001 N. Washington, died here Thursday night at 10:15 after a serious illness of three weeks. He was taken to the Johnson Hospital, Chanute, Kansas, a few days ago for treatment. He was 80 years old.

Mr. Ackerman was born near Johnstown, Pennsylvania, November 30, 1856. When he was seven years old he moved with his parents to Illinois.

He was married at El Paso, Illinois, January 2, 1884, to Miss Lavina Berg.

They came to Kansas 28 years ago, locating at Newton, and moved to Chanute 20 years ago.

Mr. Ackerman was a member of the Evangelical Church, but attended the Nazarene Church here.

Survivors are his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Ethel Ekin and Mrs. Grace Stephenson, of Bloomington, IL; Mrs. Beulah Schanbocker, of Newton, KS; Mrs. Stella Eccles, of Parsons, KS; and Mrs. Clara Burke, of Chanute, KS; his step-mother, Mrs. Martha Ackerman of Austin, IL; three brothers, Melvin Ackerman, of Bloomington, IL; Robert Ackerman, of Normal, IL; and Chauncey Ackerman, of El Paso, IL; and one sister, Miss Rebecca Ackerman; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Roy S. Gibson Funeral Home at 1:30 Sunday afternoon with the Rev. J.P. Wear of the Nazarene Church in charge. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Galesburg, KS
